A Banker and Mathematician wins Miss Belize Universe 2022

Ashley Lightburn was crowned Miss Belize Universe 2022-2023 on August 13, 2022 at the Bliss Centre For The Performing Arts in Belize City. 6 Belizean vied for the crown to succeed to Miss Universe Belize 2021, Iris Salguero. The representative of Belize City will start her preparations to represent Belize at the 2022 Miss Universe pageant, to be held on January 14, 2022 in New Orleans, USA.

Hailing from Belize City, the 25-year-old attended the University of Belize in Belmopan, Belize where she earned her bachelor’s degree in pure mathematics from 2017 to 2019. In 2019, she started hosting the University of Belize’s annual mathematics symposium. In January 2020, she joined the University of Belize as an adjunct lecturer. In January 2021, she earned her master’s degree in business administration from Marconi International University in Miami, Florida, USA.

Lightburn works currently as a project manager at a local bank and adjunct lecturer of Mathematics at the University of Belize. The newly crowned Miss Universe Belize enjoys decorating, making gift baskets and ornaments and engaging in social outreach activities. From 2011 to 2014, she was a cheerleader at Saint Catherine Academy in Belize City. Since 2015, she is cheerleading coach at Saint Catherine Academy.
