Norte de Santander crowned Miss Teen Mundo Colombia 2022

Maria Isabel Romero Gélvez was crowned Miss Teen Mundo Colombia 2022 during a national contest, held on November 21, 2022 in Barranquilla. The representative of Norte de Santander beat 14 other candidates to win the crown and to become the official country’s representative at the 2023 edition of Miss Teen Américas pageant, next year in San Salvador, El Salvador. She also won Best Face and Best Fantasy Costume awards.

The 18-year-old Cucuteña candidate imposed her charisma, donaire, bearing and her social sensitivity. “For me it is a complete pride to be able to give my department a gift like this. At all times I remained very serene, calm and above all, showing a real personality, which shows that despite our shortcomings we are also capable of achieving great things, “said the new beauty queen to the media after her winning.

Her social project ‘Sí se puede‘ (in english, Yes, you can) developed with the support of the Rudesindo Soto Mental Hospital, the queen proposes to raise awareness in society about drug use and make visible drug-dependent patients who seek opportunities to detoxify and restructure their life project. Her mentor Samir Vargas, franchise director Gael Quintero and other work teams extended invitations to youth to work and fight for their dreams. “Now with this name of Colombia that I carry I will continue with social work and of course, support in everything I can,” she added.

She is fluent in English and is about to start her medical career at the University of Santander. In addition, she have two passions: desserts and clothing.
