Toni-Ann Singh & Julia Morley visit Puerto Rico, venue of the 70th edition of the Miss World pageant
Toni-Ann Singh, Miss World 2019, is visiting Puerto Rico, ahead of the celebration of the international pageant on the Island, on December 16.
The Jamaican stunner, who arrived with Julia Morley, president of Miss World Organization, was received by Puerto Rico´s own Stephanie del Valle, Miss World 2016, and who is also the organizer of the event, which will reach more than a hundred and seventy countries. It was Toni-Ann’s first official trip since the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions happened. The Jamaican beauty said she was very excited about her visit as Puerto Rico is so much like her own country.
Singh, Morley, and Del Valle have been attending various meetings with local government executives and will visit from El Yunque to Mayagüez, as part of the selection of locations for the contest, as well as promoting the island as a tourist destination.
About 120 women will be in Puerto Rico from November 19 to December 17. The final gala will be broadcast live on Telemundo from the Coca-Cola Music Hall, in San Juan, with a capacity of 4,000 to 4,500 people. The live broadcast gathers two billion viewers in more than 170 countries and territories. It was reported that as a tourist destination, the Island would receive an unpaid advertising exposure of about $ 150 million, through coverage.
In the studios of Telemundo, Miss World Toni-Ann Singh was interviewed in the popular daytime show Día a Día by two of the most loved TV hosts on the island, Raymond Arrieta and Dagmar. In her social media, Singh has been praising Puerto Rico for its tourist attractions and hospitable people.
Toni-Ann spoke about her time on the island, what she’s looking forward to, her beauty with a purpose project, and even took the time to invite the Puerto Rican audience to the Miss World Final in Spanish!
This will be the first time a Latin American Spanish-speaking nation (in this case a US Free Associated State) hosts Miss World in 70 years. Different from Miss Universe, in the past 69 years, only 15 Latinas have managed to win the British beauty pageant. Among the winning countries are Venezuela, with six crowns; Puerto Rico, Peru, and Argentina, with two; Dominican Republic, Brazil and Mexico have had a winner each.
Miss World 2021 will be crowned on December 16th.
