The representative of Fatick crowned Miss Senegal 2024

Mame Fama Gaye, originally from the Fatick region, was crowned Miss Senegal 2024at the end of the final held on July 12, 2024 at the Grand Théâtre national Doudou Ndiaye Rose in Dakar, Senegal. The 24-years-old student beat 12 other candidats to succeed Fatou Lô, Miss Senegal 2021 and to become the official representative of Senegal at the next edition of Miss World pageant, to be held in 2025.

The new Miss Senegal, aged 24, is a Master 2 student at the Faculty of Legal Sciences at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar. With her title, she notably won a study grant of 17 million CFA.

Fatou Guèye, 23, from Louga, was named first runner-up and will head to Mexico for Miss Universe 2024 this November. She will be the first Miss Universe Senegal in over three decades. Senegal, a country in West Africa, debuted at Miss Universe 1974 and its last participation was during Miss Universe 1987.
The second runner-up, 23-year-old Mayram Ly from Dakar, has been appointed the first-ever Miss Cosmo Senegal and will participate in Miss Cosmo 2024 in Vietnam this October.

After her crowning, Mame Fama Gaye,expressed all her “pride in representing” her country in the world and “participating in charitable projects”. The Minister of Family and Solidarity, Maïmouna Dièye, who chaired the ceremony, magnified the theme of this edition focused on “The empowerment of women”. “We are happy to have Misses who, in addition to being beautiful, are intelligent,” she declared, not without calling on them to never lose sight of the ancestral Senegalese values ​​of dignity and work wherever ‘they be. “The Miss is like an athlete, she must be a showcase to sell the image of Senegal throughout the world,” recalled the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Khady Diène Gaye, while by asking the Misses to be leaders and relays within their community.

The organization of Miss Senegal 2024 experienced an innovation with the establishment of an ethics committee, headed by former MP Hélène Tine. “The Ethics Committee is set up to reassure participants’ parents that their children are safe with responsible people and that their rights will be respected,” she explained. Representatives from the 14 regions of the country participated in the competition.
