Crown Up ! - International

The new Miss Mexico is…

Karolina Vidales of Michoacán was crowned Miss Mexico 2021 during the finals held July 3 at the Salón Lago Di Como by Castalia in Chihuahua City, Chihuahua, Mexico.

The 24-year-old international business and business administration graduate edged out 31 other candidates for the title, earning the right to represent Mexico at the 70th Miss World contest in Puerto Rico later this year. She succeded 2019 winner Ashley Alvidrez. She holds a license in International Relations and is a fluent speaker of English, French, and German. Karolina has also completed her further studies in Business Administration at the Hochschule Osnabruck University in Germany. She had recently applied for the Ceneval exam and received excellent results.

Karolina talked about her advocacy and how she has a foundation, CUE, that helps the most vulnerable groups in the Caada de Los Onces Pueblos. Through the foundation, which works on donations and collections by interested civilians or institutions, the diva, and her team support children, specifically from the community, through educational and cultural programs. The diva also tries to encourage young girls to be more confident, stay positive, work hard for their dreams, etc. Karolina just aspires to be a positive and impactful role model for aspiring models and, in general, young girls.

Karolina was asked about how she sees body positivity as a concept, to which she replied, “I like to show myself what I am, even though I am a beauty queen. If you check my social networks, you will find photos with cellulite, with hair, with little fish, because being ‘Body Positive’ is simply learning to love ourselves as we are and put aside those stereotypes of perfect bodies, which often cause mental health problems, disorders, food, and insecurities. It is time to change the perception in which we see our body, of course, as long as we keep it healthy. “

The Karolina’s court includes Quintana Roo’s Regina González as first runner-up and Oaxaca’s Sabrina Góngora as second runners-up, respectively. Meanwhile, Mariana Macías bagged the Miss Mexico Grand 2021 title.
