Sienna Evans appointed as Miss Bahamas World 2021
Sienna Evans has been chosen as Miss Bahamas World 2021 during a private selection process made necessary due to the Covid 19 pandemic. She will represent the nation at the 70th Miss World competition to be held in December in Puerto Rico. She will be officially crowned prior to her departure by outgoing queen Nyah Bandelier on a date to be announced.
The 24-year-old beauty queen holds a bachelor of science in neuroscience and human behavior degree from the Honors College of Florida Atlantic University .
Evans, who serves on the board of the National Brain Injury Foundation in The Bahamas, is the owner of Access Bahamas Medical Labs, a network of bio-medical laboratories offering clinic services, concierge service for Covid tests by appointment, and drive through antigen tests.
It is through her labs that she will facilitate her Beauty with a Purpose project. Her project “Access Granted” will center around providing accessible healthcare to all Bahamians.
“This has been a dream of mine for a very long time, and to realize that it has finally become a reality was sheer joy. I don’t take this for granted at all. This is truly an honor and a privilege, and you can be assured that I am going to give it my all to make the people of The Bahamas proud,” Evans said in a statement sent to the press.
Under normal circumstances, Miss Bahamas World is chosen after a nationwide search and grueling pageant competition. Miss Bahamas Organization official Michelle Malcolm said the decision to select a representative this year was due to financial constraints of holding a pageant at this time, and health concerns due to COVID-19.
“We acknowledge that this year’s selection process was not typical, however, unusual times call for unusual measures. This was the best possible scenario, given the state we still find ourselves in as a country and the importance of continuity and a return to normalcy, even in pageantry,” said Malcolm in a press release. “That being said, we are confident that Sienna will do very well at this year’s Miss World pageant, and we are certainly giving her the support that she needs to do so.”
Not newbie to pageantry, Evans finished as first runner-up at the Miss Bahamas 2015 pageant. Evans first competed for the Miss Bahamas title, at age 17. She fell just short of capturing the crown, placing first runner up. Malcolm says Evans, 24, is more accomplished, educated, and as the new Miss Bahamas World, ready for the Miss World pageant.
