Newly crowned Miss Cayman Islands Universe barred from Miss Universe because of court?
In a grand final held at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort and Spa, Tiffany LeAnn Conolly was crowned Miss Cayman Islands Universe 2022 and will subsequently represent her country at Miss Universe 2022, however, provided that she is not proven guilty of the ongoing criminal charges.
Soon after her national win, social media was flooded with comments about the criminal charges pressed on her concerning an assault last year.
While she has not been convicted of anything as yet, the news was met with dismay. Tiffany last appeared in Summary Court in March 2022, facing two counts of common assault, two counts of property damage, two further charges for disorderly conduct at a police station and one of assaulting a police officer. As per reports, the 24-year-old was arrested following an altercation at a former boyfriend’s house when she was alleged to have assaulted both her former lover and another family member before going on to assault a police officer at the detention center following her arrest. The case is still ongoing, but as she has not been proven guilty of any charges yet, she was allowed to participate in the pageant.
In the further case proceeding, if Tiffany is proven convicted, she will not be able to represent the Cayman Islands at the 71st edition of Miss Universe and Chloe Powery-Doxey, the first runner-up, will proceed to compete for the international title.
