Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2022 is…
Tya Jané Ramey was crowned Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago 2022 by the former Miss Universe TT 1998, Wendy Fitzwilliamalong, during a final, held at Queen’s Hall in Port of Spain on September 11, 2022. Beating 22 contenders, the representative of Arouca wins the opportunity to represent her island at the Miss Universe 2022 pageant, which will be held in the first quarter of 2023 in San Jose, Costa Rica, as to avoid a schedule conflict with the Fifa World Cup, which takes place in November and December. She also got the Miss Photogenic award during this night. This national pageant made the return of Trinidad and Tobago to the Miss Universe pageant almost after five years under a new management, Crowns and Sashes, a pageant academy.
The 24-year-old US-born newly crowned works as model, but she also is an athlete, dancer, alto saxophonist, and social work and social policies graduate.
Her platform during her reign is to work with children with disabilities. “I feel very strongly about it because I realise that there are gaps that are missing and it affects their entire lives from the way they are educated; to access health care and I am hoping that my platform is going to be as a voice to ensure that I play an integral roll in bridging some of those gaps,” Ramey said.
Ramey is not a newbie in pageantry, because she is the former Miss World Trinidad and Tobago winner who was placed in the Top 40 during Miss World 2018 and was awarded the title of Miss World Caribbean.
The 2022 Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago’s court includes Amanda Ameerali, and Tishanna Mitchell, as first and second runners-up, respectively.
