Miss Universe Malta 2022 appointed
Maxine Formosa Gruppetta was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2022 during at a special press event to be held at InterContinental Malta held on April 10, 2022 in St Julian, Malta. The 21-year-old beauty queen was crowned by Miss Universe Malta 2021, Jane Cini and will represent Malta at the next edition of Miss Universe, later this year.

Hailing from St Julian, Maxine attended G.F. Abela Junior College in Msida, Malta. She currently works at a Law Firm as a Legal Assistant/Administrator. At the young age of 13, she went to live on her own in the UK to pursue a songwriting career where she was badly bullied. She later returned back to her family in Malta.
A beginner in pageantry, Maxine placed as 2nd Runner-up at the Miss Universe Malta 2021 contest, which was her first pageant ever. The diva dedicates her crowning to her father, who passed away due to a sudden fatal heart attack, just three months after her participation last year. She also dedicates her achievement to her grandmother, who had pushed her towards participating last year, but unfortunately passed away from cancer just few months before the finale show.
Apart from the glam, Maxine enjoys working out at the gym, doing yoga and playing padel. She is a huge dog lover.
