Miss Universe Belgium reunites with Ethiopian father who left her in foster care 15 years ago

After 15 long years, Miss Belgium 2021 Kedist Deltour was finally reunited with her biological father in Ethiopia who left her in foster care. The beauty queen and fashion model shared a heartwarming photo of the tender moment on Instagram. In the caption, Kedist said she “couldn’t believe how overwhelmed I was with emotions when I finally met him.”

“This is a day I will never forget. I got to experience a part of me that I kept for myself for so long,” she wrote. “I have forgiven him for everything. My heart is at peace. I feel like a new person,” she added. According to the Miss Universe Organization, Kedist Deltour went from being a street child to becoming Miss Belgium.

The beauty queen was left at an orphanage after her mom died of an illness and was adopted by a Belgian family at 10 years old. After being crowned Miss Belgium 2021 in March, Kedist is set to represent the country at the global pageant in December.
