Crown Up! - State Pageant
Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen 2022 crowned
Grace Larsen, from St. Joseph, was crowned Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen 2022 at the end of the pageant, held on June 17, 2022, at Orchard View High School in Muskegon. As Miss Spirit of the State’s Outstanding Teen, Larsen competed against 20 other candidates aged 13 to 18 years old to win the crown and to succeed Miss Michigan’s Outstanding Teen 2021, Rylie Dewley. She also won a $1,000 academic scholarship and the opportunity to compete in Miss America’s Outstanding Teen 2023 program in August.
Larsen shined when she answered an on-stage question from judges while wearing a white satin gown with a sequin waistline. And despite falling during her musical theater dance routine to “Sam, You Made the Pants Too Long,” Larsen dusted herself off and carried on performing.“That is probably the proudest I have ever been of myself,” she said.
“This has been my dream since I won my first title at 8 years old. For it to come true is such a surreal feeling and I’m so grateful,” Larsen told the audience Saturday during the final night of the 2022 Miss Michigan competition.
Larsen will spend the next year advocating for her platform, “Confidence Through Kindness; Paving the Way for Future Female Leaders through Support, Empowerment and Mentorship,” across Michigan.
She aims to attend the University of Alabama and pursue a master’s degree in education to become an elementary school teacher.
Larsen is not a newbie to pageantry. She was the fourth runner-up when she competed as Miss Shoreline’s Outstanding Teen in the 2021 competition.
The 2022 Miss Missouri’s Outstanding Teen’s court includes:
1st runner-up – Kylie D’Andrea (Miss SouthCentral’s Outstanding Teen)
2nd runner-up – Breckyn Bussey (At-Large Outstanding Teen)
