Miss Communidad Extranjera crowned Miss Universo Chile 2022
Sofia Depassier was crowned Miss Universe Chile 2022 at the end of the pageant, held on June 25, 2022 at Hotel Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, Chile. She succeeds Miss Universo Chile 2021, Antonia Figueroa and become the official representative of Chile at Miss Universe 2022.
The 24-year-old Environmental Civil Engineer lived lives in Miami and represented Communidad Extranjera. Born in the capital city of Santiago, Sofia migrated to the United States at a young age. She’s a professional model, a beautician, a stylist and also an actress. She considers herself a versatile, innovative woman with a lot of personality. She is passionate about acting and everything that has to do with beauty, such as makeup and fashion.
On her Instagram after her crowning, Depassier shared an intimate story about a scar she has on her lower back from surgery after being diagnosed with Scoliosis at age 12. In her reflection, she stressed the importance of self-love and resilience, publishing a postcard of the scar that this experience left her.
“I underwent a complex surgery, which led me to rethink my entire life, with the fear of not walking again, of not being able to lead a normal life, and where I would have a great scar with me for the rest of my life,” the young woman revealed. “Fortunately everything turned out well, and today I can lead a normal life that made me think that, sometimes, we silence the pain, hide these wounds and forget that they are the real battles that matter to win, “she added next to the photograph.
The newly titleholder want to promote the social project Without Borders, which promotes the inclusion of the immigrant population in different countries, especially with the barriers generated by language.
Not a stranger to pageantry, she participated at Miss Teen South Florida 2004 where she was awarded Miss Photogenic. She competed in 2020 at Miss Universo Chile, but failed to win the crown.
