Meet Chris Gonçalves, Finalist of Supra Star 2022

Today, Thomas of the Inside Pageant met Chris, a charming young man who is a finalist of Supra Star Season 2  and hopes become the representative of Portugal at the 2022 edition of Mister Supranational pageant. He kindly answered his questions :

Inside Pageant – Hello Chris ! Can you introduce yourself for people who don’t know you ?

Yes of course.  My name is Chris Gonçalves, I am 24 years old, raised in Venezuela of Portuguese origin and nationality. I am a communication student, certified flight attendant and Mister. I am currently a candidate for the Supra Star Search, an online competition held by the Mister Supranational organization to give a boy the opportunity to compete in the most important male beauty pageant in the world.

Inside Pageant – What are your passions and the activities you do ?

I am a lover of words and communication, so my greatest passion is my studies.  I have been a communication student at the Open University of Catalunya for a year. Something that fills me with pride because it brings me closer to the professional future I want. I am also a lover of exercise and traveling.  I love travelling.

Inside Pageant – Why did you participate in Supra Star Search Season 2 ?

Because I love beauty pageants, since they combine two of my passions: being on stage and carrying a message with which to help others. I had already been designated to participate in another international contest before, but for financial reasons I could not continue.  The Supra Star is the perfect opportunity to continue with that dream that was on hold.

Inside Pageant – Can you explain what’s Supra Star ?

It is an online competition run by the Mister Supranational organization, in which two candidates for beauty pageants are given the opportunity to participate in Mister Supranational with all expenses paid.

Inside Pageant – Can you tell us about your experience in male pageants, photography and fashion ?

Yes, it all started in 2019 when I participated in Mister Turismo Madrid.  Thanks to that experience, I entered the casting of Mister Global Spain, a contest in which he participated in 2020 and thanks to which I am designated as Mister Portugal in Man Of The World.  I couldn’t go to MOTW because I didn’t have the money to compete. My work as a model has ranged from the recording of advertising spots, to photographic projects and collaborations with brands from my social networks.

Inside Pageant – Have you had the opportunity to chat with some of the candidates, including those who are not in the top 15 ?

Yes, I have been able to talk to all of them since we are all in an instagram group where we talk daily.  I think this is one of the most rewarding things about this experience.

Inside Pageant – If you had to define your adventure in 3 words, what would they be ? 

Perseverance, discipline and hope.

Inside Pageant – How are you feeling as the results approaches ?

I am grateful, not only for the results but also for the great support I have on social networks.

Inside Pageant – Why should you win Supra Star ?

If i become Mister Supranational Portugal and as a journalist in training, I want to show everyone who sees me on that stage that NOTHING is impossible when you work hard and prepare to achieve it. When I started in pageants, they told me that because of my height, sexuality and mixed backgrounds, I would never make it. I want to step on the stage of Mister Supranational being Mister Supranational Portugal, showing that neither stereotypes, nor your sexuality, origins or economic status can NEVER limit you from fulfilling your dreams. That’s why, because of my perseverance, because of my discipline and struggle, today more than ever, I think I should win Supra Star Search.

Inside Pageant – What will you do if you win Supra Star ?

I want to continue with my social project “Man For the Kids”, and help children so that they can continue their education. At the same time I want to start a new social media campaign to promote equality and rights for the LGBT+ community and HIV prevention. Finally, continue with my campaign on blood donation.

Inside Pageant – What is the cause you defend, and in wich you would like to get involved if you are elected ? Why ?

Now more than ever, the defense of minorities and the defenseless is necessary.  That is why my social work is aimed at children, and at the defense of a community to which I belong and that has always been discriminated against, such as the LGTB + community.  Those are the causes that I defend with pride.

Inside Pageant – If you don’t win Supra Star, would you compete in an other competition to represent Portugal ?

Not in the next few years.  Maybe in the future.  I’m still 24 years old, so I’m young to try again.

Inside Pageant – Who is the most important person in your life ?

I can’t mention a single person.  First is my mother.  She is like my daughter, she is my priority.  Then there is my father, he is my example to follow, he is what I want to become one day as a father, as a husband and as an entrepreneur.  He is the perfect father.

Inside Pageant – What is your motivation in life ? The reason you get up in the morning ?

I want to be successful in giving my Family the life they gave me when I was a child.  I think of them every time I have long hours at work, that I am overwhelmed by university exams or I am very stressed and recharge my energy.

Inside Pageant – Wich country would you like to visit ?

I want to go to Greece and Turkey. These are two destinations that I would love to visit this year.

Inside Pageant – What would you tell us to conclude this interview ?

Whoever reads this interview, NEVER take no as an answer. Everything in this life is possible when you work hard and educate yourself to achieve
