Kenya wins Beauty of Africa International pageant
Messry Lung’atso was crowned Beauty of Africa International 2022 at the end of the 3rd edition of the international pageant, held on September 9, 2022 at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton hotel, in Abuja, Nigeria. The representative of Kenya , has beaten 4 other contestants to succeed the 2021 winner, Erika Kazombaruru of Namibia. It’s the second victory for the Kenya in this African pageant. She won Best in Photogenic Award too.
“The title is a huge responsibility that calls for discipline and accountability. This is exactly what I have worked towards. It’s a title I will use to push forward my advocacy, working in conjunction with all the BAIP officials,” she offered. Her next assignment is “applying every bit of knownledge I have acquired through this journey. I believe that this knowledge will help me become a better version of myself.“
Lung’atso was born and raised in Mumias. She is the firstborn in a family of three. She is a final-year student, pursing Bachelor of Science in Economics at the University of Nairobi.
The 23-year-old beauty queen took up modeling as a pastime. She also enjoys writing and sharing stories.
On weekends, she engages in different activities, including holding small classes with children from her neighborhood. They engage in different activities like making bead bands and paintings as well as planting trees.
She first participated in the BAIP Kenya in 2021, where she finished second runner-up. “I came back to the competition where I won first place andd got the opportunity to represent Kenya in Abuja for the third African edition” she told the Sunday Nation.

1st runner-up – Prisca Abah (Ghana)
2nd runner-up – Okereke Juliana (Nigeria)
