Julia Samantha Edima crowned Miss Cameroun 2022

Julia Samantha Edima Assoumou was crowned Miss Cameroun 2022 at the end of the pageant, held on January 7, 2022, at the Palais Polyvalent des Sport in Yaoundé. A real final rich in sound and colors, broadcast live on the Canal 2 International channel. Only downside, it is unfortunate that the pageant of Miss Cameroun was marred by the withdrawals of Melissa Masso (2nd runner-up Miss East), Zita Tamasang (2nd runner-up Miss Northwest) and Yvonne Nguiviassi (1st runner-up Miss Adamaoua). They complain, rightly or wrongly, of abuse, corruption and fraud against them in the organizing committee. Regardless, the charm, natural beauty and aura of Julia Samantha, Miss South 2021, won over the entire jury. She beats 28 others beautiful delegates to win the crown and to succeed Nabila Monkam, Miss Cameroun 2020. She will now represent her country at the upcoming edition of Miss World, later this year.

26-year-old actress and holder of a master’s degree in corporate communication, she developed her project on actions around mental health. She confesses that her studies taught her to speak in public. “I had a pampered childhood, traveling between Germany and my native Cameroon. As a woman, I want to show that you can be Miss Cameroon, and take concrete action in favor of the eradication of mental illnesses. The mental health of people is of great concern to me ”.

Born in 1995 in Meyo-center in the South Cameroon region, Julia Samantha found herself in Germany at the age of 5 where she did her primary studies until CM1 class in the city of Offenbach (Buchügel) before returning to the country a few years later and continuing his graduate studies. After obtaining her Baccalaureate in 2015, she enrolled at the University of Douala where she graduated with a License in Communication, specializing in organizational communication.

She first participated in a beauty pageant during Miss Orangina pageant, which she won. This title was for her a springboard towards the world of show-bizz: figuration in video clips, muse for advertising campaigns… etc. But it’s in 2017 that things will really start to happen. Indeed, having a passion since childhood for comedy and cinema, Samantha will meet a certain Cynthia Elisabeth Ngono who will really motivate her, supervise her and push her to enter the world of cinema.

She then proceeded to castings on castings before signing with the audiovisual production and promotion house BLACK FILMS in 2018. We discover her for the very first time on the small screen in the feature film FANTASMA, then in TRAUMA, another feature film produced by the BLACK FILMS house, which even won the award for best Cameroonian feature film in 2019 at the BLACK SCREENS Festival.
