The new Miss Jamaica World 2021 is…
Khalia Hall was crowned Miss Jamaica World 2021 by Miss World 1976 Cindy Breakspeare during the finals held October 9 at the Courtleigh Auditorium in, Kingston, Jamaica. The one who wore the sash Miss General Food Supermarket bested 14 other finalists for the title. She succeeds 2019 winner Toni-Ann Singh, who went on to win the Miss World 2019 crown. Khalia will represent Jamaica at the 70th Miss World contest to be held in December in Puerto Rico.
Hailing from St Ann, the 25-year-old beauty queen is head cook and bottle washer at plant-based food delivery service, Shibumi Jamaica, and a food blogger at Mix Up and Blenda.A graduate of the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, she has a masters in mechanical engineering. In July 2016, she became a global ambassador of the University of Manchester. She represented the university and promoted international opportunities to students both abroad and in the U.K. She describes herself as a health and nutrition enthusiast and mechanical engineer-turned-foodie, and has long had a desire to be a part of the Miss Jamaica World competition. She said entering the pageant was something “in the back of my mind from I was a little girl”. She speaks English and Italian.
The 2021 Miss Jamaica World’s court includes Dominique Shorter and Melessa Vassell as first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
Five sectional awards were presented. Miss Whitter Village Toni-Ann Lalor claimed the award for Best Personality; Miss TM Ross Beauty Shinell Mills, the contestant selected — Most Congenial; Miss Nationwide News Brithney Clarke, the Multimedia Award; Miss LP Azar Jamela Rookwood, Most Photogenic and Miss Mushroom Kerrion Erskine, Most Improved.
