Philippines wins again another crown

Joanna Camelle Mercado bested 24 other contestants to win Miss Continentes Unidos 2022 (aka Miss United Continents 2022) on Saturday, August 6 at Parque Las Vegas in Portoviejo, Ecuador. The representative of Philippines succeeds Miss Continentes Unidos 2019, Anairis Cadavid Ardila and  is the second Filipino to win the crown. The first was in 2016 won by Jeslyn Santos and now the national director of Miss United Continents Philippines. Aside from the major title, she also placed 1st runner up in the National Costume presentation, winning by the representative of India.

The 26-year-old resort ambassador from Floridablanca, Pampanga, holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and worked as a teacher.

The 2022 Miss Continentes Unidos court includes:

1st runner-up – Ivanova Vélez (Ecuador)

2nd runner-up – Karen Ortíz (Colombia)

3rd runner-up – Lis Arbelaes (Venezuela)

4th runner-up –  Gretha Matiauda (Paraguay)

5th runner-up – Ayram Ortíz (Mexico)
